I’m Ameera Aslam.
Helping writers and poets get from idea to a finished product (chapbook, manuscript, blog, newsletter etc) is one of my favourite things to do.
I developed my coaching method through years of working as an editor. I started by offering editing and proofreading services and later added 30-min consultation calls. Aspiring writers always ended up booking several calls, so I knew a longer-term working arrangement and a suite of services would be really useful.
As a writing coach, I help you cultivate the craft and confidence to find your place in the world of words. It is flexible, according to your needs so it starts exactly where you need it to start.
What does a writing coach do?
I listen to your concerns, ponder your questions and learn about your writing goals then we discuss possible ways into, around or through your particular conundrum, whether it is finishing a manuscript, starting and sustaining a blog, mapping out a non-fiction book idea or [insert your writing dilemma here!].
The goal is that from the writing coaching, there is a clear way forward with achievable steps, and an accountability buddy cheering you on till you reach your writing goals.
I’ve been a writer, editor, translator and have worked with different Muslim publishing houses. I KNOW just how isolating and lonely writing can be, and have built contacts in the Islamic publishing scene in case you need any questions answered.
I will bring all my varied experiences and help to:
- Keep you accountable, and support you with check-ins
- Provide editorial support and problem-solving along the way
- Help you with tips for overcoming procrastination and other blocks
- Be an important and independent sounding board for your ideas and developments
- Get access to my network, where applicable
As a writing coach, I can provide general editing suggestions. But if you do take up the writing coaching program, you will be entitled to a discount on my usual editing fees, should you decide to add Editing to the mix!

1. Quick Clarity Consultation
45-min session for you to pick my brain on all things writing, poetry, publishing and/or book marketing.
You will leave the session with clarity, confidence & motivation.
I will send a follow-up email of everything we discussed so you can refer to it after the call. This can be a stand-alone experience or the beginning of our work together.
Cost: USD$99
2. Focused Writer’s Path
This 3-month program will ensure that I will keep you accountable & motivated during this duration based on the outline and framework for your writing goal that we create together.
Includes:
- three one-hour calls to create a plan, go through writing blocks, discuss written work, or even a co-writing session if you need a body double to get writing done
- fortnightly email check-ins
- general editing suggestions + access to my network, where applicable
Cost: USD$599
3. Focused Writer’s Journey
This 6-month program will ensure that I will keep you accountable & motivated during this duration based on the outline and framework for your writing goal that we create together.
You will leave each session feeling encouraged and inspired to keep going, with a clear idea of what’s working, what needs work and what to do next to get one step closer to finishing your writing project.
Includes:
- eight one-hour calls to create a plan, go through writing blocks, discuss written work, or even a co-writing session if you need a body double to get writing done
- fortnightly email check-ins
- access to my network, where applicable
- copy-edit of a chapter/article/essay /blogpost/newsletter of your choice, up to 3000 words (worth $300)
