As a poet & lover of poetry, I always say that poetry is an invitation to pause. And I think this snail mail club is an extension of my dedication to slowing down.

With a letter in your mailbox, you’ll need to sit down, open the envelope, unfold the letter and read. No scrolling. Actual presence and pause.

Who Am I and Why Am I Writing To You?

My name is Ameera Aslam. I’m a best-selling author and an award-winning poet and I started this snail mail club in January 2026 because I love writing and receiving handwritten letters and notes.

Writing has always been my favourite method of expression and while I’ve loved sharing and connecting with people through my blog, books, social media etc, there’s a different intimacy and openness in a letter.

It is direct, it is personal and while we edit captions and newsletters, letters don’t need editing. It’s not the point.

Especially in this past few years, with the throttling and shadow-banning of social media accounts, general digital oversaturation, and the rise of AI content, I really just want to write to a human being again, AND to be able to receive replies again.

So here we are!
